Jorien is a journalist, writer, and voice-over artist dedicated to telling stories that haven’t been given space — especially women’s stories. She is the author of Saluut Batavia, which shines light on the overlooked history of female KNIL soldiers and the realities they faced in war.
Her work has been widely praised for its courage and depth, including international recognition for recovering a “neglected chapter of Dutch military history” and giving voice to women who were sent into conflict without truly being seen.
What She Stands For:
Jorien believes storytelling is a form of justice — by making women visible in history, we return them their place in the world.
